FAQ
Where is your office?
We are located at 2915 Hunter Mill Road Suite 14 in Oakton, VA, but can meet virtually with clients throughout Virginia
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance companies often have red tape and policies that negatively impact their clientele, which is the last thing someone should have to deal with when they’re seeking help.
For that reason, we are an out-of-network provider. We don’t bill directly to insurance companies, but will provide a receipt with which people can often receive some reimbursement.
How can I know which of your services is right for me?
We offer a one-time, free 15-minute phone consultation for anyone who might need services.
If you’d like to discuss your options, call the number in our contact section or email us at at gregory.adams@familywellnessgroup.com.
What are the fees for services?
Hourly rates vary depending on the clinician and the service provided. We recommend you schedule a 15-minute phone consultation to discuss this and any related matters.

How do I know if Family Wellness Group has a therapist that will be a good fit for me?
The short answer to this question is: you don’t, and neither do we.
That’s why we offer a free 15-minute phone consultation for people interested in therapy to see if we can match them up with a therapist that’s appropriate for their needs. If not, we’ll refer you to another therapist in the area that is a better fit, and we won’t charge you anything.
I’m concerned that my therapist will try to “push” me too hard or try to get me to participate in some kind of treatment I’m not comfortable with. Will that happen?
No, it won’t. We work collaboratively with all our clients; and you will not only set your own goals for treatment, but also the pace.
We ask that you listen to our feedback with an open mind, but the last thing we want to do is keep you from actively participating in therapy.
How Do I Know If I Need Therapy?
You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Maybe you’ve noticed the same problems showing up in your relationships, you’re struggling to cope with a major change, or you just feel like something is off and you’re ready for a fresh perspective.
Sometimes the sign that it’s time to talk to someone is realizing you don’t want things to keep feeling the way they do.
Therapy gives you a safe place to understand what’s happening, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop new ways to approach the challenges in your life. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong or what you need before reaching out. That’s what we’re here to help with.
What Should I Expect at My First Therapy Session?
Your first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other. You’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, relevant history, and what your goals are. And if you don’t know, that’s ok. We can figure it out together.
You can also ask questions and get a feel for your therapist’s approach. You won’t be expected to share everything at once or immediately dive into topics you aren’t ready to discuss.
At Family Wellness Group, therapy is collaborative. Together, you and your therapist can begin identifying goals and deciding what you’d like to work on first.
Can Therapy Help With Relationship and Family Problems?
Yes. Relationship problems are one of the most common reasons people attend therapy. And yes, you can come alone and still address relationship and family concerns with therapy.
Individual therapy can help you recognize relationship patterns, establish healthier boundaries, improve communication, and decide how you want to respond to difficult dynamics. Couples or family therapy may be a more suitable option when multiple people are willing to participate and work toward change.
Whether you’re struggling with your partner, parents, children, co-parent, friendships, professional relationships or another family member, therapy can help you better understand the situation and how to address conflict in those relationships.
Do You Offer Online Therapy in Virginia?
Yes. In addition to our Oakton office, Family Wellness Group offers virtual therapy to clients throughout Virginia and at the Arlington Office.
Online therapy can be especially helpful when commuting to an appointment would make it difficult to fit therapy into your schedule. You can meet with your therapist from a private location without adding travel time to your day.
If you’re unsure whether virtual or in-person therapy would be a better fit, start with our free 15-minute phone consultation. We’ll learn more about what you’re looking for and whether online therapy in Virginia will be a good option for you.
